After several years of focusing on teaching mountaineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy, the creators of the USAF 50 Summits Challenge have decided to revive the project with a climb of Denali- the highest point on North America and the tallest of the 50 Summits.
The team of five Airmen will fly onto Denali May 29th, 2021. They will then spend roughly two weeks skinning to 14,000ft, acclimating, climbing the Upper West Rib to the summit, and then skiing back down via the Messner Couloir. It's a challenge plan but these Airmen are all experienced mountaineers.
