The word is out- the USAF 50 Summits Challenge is beginning its pre engine-start checklist! With the website up and running, we've set our sights on kicking this project off in style.
Right now we're looking for Airmen in the DC area to help us organize and launch the first event: a hike from the Air Force Memorial to the highest geographical point in DC- Ft. Reno Park. It'll be about 7-8 miles of hiking around some of the prettiest parts of our capitol, including forests. There will be access points along the way for wounded warriors or other Airmen who would like to join later in the event.
We need a motivated Airmen to help us get the word out around DC, involve a wide array of Air Force members, and take lead of the hike. May or June is our target- so let's make it happen! We've already got local DC hiking groups ready to act as pathfinders and top AF officials are looking forward to taking part. Let's go!
Climb High, Fly Low!
